Biography
Via Negromonte has amassed a distinguished body of work that spans both her native country and international stages. Her career encompasses theater, where she performs as an actress while also writing plays, along with appearances in multiple films such as Francis Ford Coppola's Cotton Club, as well as projects in television, dance, and music productions. She made her professional entrance on Broadway in 1979, portraying Anita in West Side Story, after which additional musicals came her way and took her on tours throughout the U.S. and Europe. Upon her return to Brazil in 1987 she released two albums, earning the Sharp prize as revelation singer for the track "Preconceito." Negromonte further received recognition for her acting at the 22nd Festival Guarnicé in São Luiz do Maranhão, specifically for her role in the film O Auto de Leidiana directed by Rosemberg Cariri.
