Biography
Voicst emerged in 2001 as a Dutch indie rock outfit built around vocalist/guitarist Tjeerd Bomhof, bassist/vocalist Sven Woodside, and drummer Joppe Molenaar. The three musicians, all based in Amsterdam, had briefly united back in 1994 while still in school, yet only stepped forward as a fully realized group once the new century began. Their high-energy, guitar-driven approach drew favorable comparisons to the likes of Supergrass and Nada Surf. The band issued its first album, 11-11, in 2004 through the Dutch imprint Duurtlang Records; the record reached the United States the next year and also appeared in Japan and Australia. Their second studio effort, A Tale of Two Devils, followed in 2008 via Play It Again Sam/Goodbusy Records.
