Biography

WALL formed in Brooklyn as a band whose songs carried a taut, explosive edge, merging the shadows of post-punk with no wave textures while directly confronting the tensions of contemporary life. Samantha York handled vocals, Elizabeth Skadden—previously a member of Finally Punk—played bass, Vince McClelland took the guitar parts, and Vanessa Gomez sat behind the drums. The group first appeared in 2016 through a self-titled EP issued by Wharf Cat Records and performed at multiple New York City locations plus Austin’s South by Southwest Festival. Their debut full-length, Untitled, surfaced in April 2017, though by then the members had already declared the project over.
