Hailing from Galway, Ireland, the energetic family outfit We Banjo 3, who proudly call themselves "Celt-grass" devotees, mix traditional Irish music with bluegrass and vintage folk to create performances that reliably captivate listeners. The quartet formed in 2011 when brother pairs Enda and Fergal Scahill joined forces with Martin and David Howley, all four having already collected multiple titles across their individual competitive music specialties. Performances regularly feature unofficial fifth member Garry O'Meara together with Martin Howley's wife Kiana Weber, herself a Gaelic Storm musician. The ensemble's first release, the widely praised Roots of the Banjo Tree, reached audiences in 2012. Gather the Good arrived two years afterward and earned Irish American News Vocal/Instrumental Album of the Year honors, followed in 2015 by the band's inaugural concert recording, Live in Galway. String Theory surfaced in 2016 and opened at number one on the Billboard world chart. The musicians journeyed to America to capture their fourth studio album, the crowdfunded Haven, issued in 2018; that project ascended to number one on Billboard's bluegrass chart while landing at number three on the world chart. Their next live album, Roots to Rise, appeared in 2019 and likewise debuted at number one on the bluegrass chart.
