Hailing from Los Angeles, Wens works as a vocalist and composer whose voice moves between hushed tones and powerful projection, set against moody electronic backdrops that echo the approaches of Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Alessia Cara. Her confessional writing explores mental health struggles, questions of self-worth, and measured optimism, which helped her connect with listeners through initial releases such as the 2016 track “Bones” and the 2017 song “Life,” before she issued her first project, That Really Long Night, in 2018.

She grew up in Manhattan Beach, internalizing her mother’s preferred ’80s recordings by Gloria Estefan, Chaka Khan, Prince, Donna Summer, and Michael Jackson, then blended those influences with her own touchstones that include Nirvana, Kanye West, Alt-J, Lana Del Rey, and Beyoncé. Adopting the stage name Wens from Wednesday Addams of The Addams Family, she initially created her atmospheric, somber pop material for other performers before choosing to step into the spotlight herself rather than remain offstage. Her debut release, the 2016 single “Bones,” gained substantial streaming traction as a striking introduction that recalled Lorde and Banks, after which “Bleed” and “Life” appeared in 2017 during her shift out of high school and into young adulthood. The 2018 EP That Really Long Night contained the successful cuts “Take” and “Call.”

She maintained momentum in 2019 by issuing a consistent series of recordings that later formed the basis of her second EP, Lemoncholy, released in 2020.
