Biography
Recording artist William Hut first reached international listeners while serving as lead singer for the Norwegian pop/rock group Poor Rich Ones. The band came together in 1994 and remained active from the appearance of its debut album, Naivety's Star, in 1996, until the final release, Joe Maynard's Favourites, in 2003. During his tenure with Poor Rich Ones, Hut received a Norwegian Grammy Award and built an exceptionally devoted following. His first solo project, Road Star Doolittle, appeared in the United States in 2003, earning favorable notices from American rock critics and appearing on several year-end best-of lists. The subsequent album, Versus the End of Fashion Park, generated a pair of Norwegian radio successes and drew positive critical response, even if it failed to become a commercial breakthrough. In April 2004 Hut completed his third solo album, Days to Remember, after just one week of sessions in Boston; the record brought him his initial Grammy nomination as an individual artist. His fourth outing, Nightfall, arrived in 2007 and included the hit single “Take It Easy,” which remained on the national charts for more than six months. Nightfall stands as his biggest success so far, attaining platinum certification within its first months of release after surpassing 30,000 copies sold.
