Biography
Recognized as a leading exponent of Finnish Sami yoik, the age-old chanting form sharing affinities with Native American traditions, Wimme Saari launched his recording career in 1997 via a self-titled album on the NorthSide imprint. Two years afterward came Gierran, with Cugu arriving in fall 2000. Three years after that he resurfaced with Barru, a NorthSide release that also featured live footage captured at the 2002 Nordic Roots Festival.
