Woodhands function as an electro-pop ensemble built around analog instrumentation and marked by a taste for ironic excess. Beyond their recorded work the band maintains an active touring schedule and has earned a reputation for hosting uninhibited dance events. Its origins lie in the basement space of frontman Dan Werb’s apartment in Montreal, where the project first took shape purely as a recording endeavor. Werb, who supplies vocals, synths, and drum machines, has periodically enlisted other players across the years, most prominently drummer Paul Banwatt. The group subsequently moved through Vancouver and Paris before establishing itself in Toronto. Its self-titled debut album came out on the Good Clams label in 2005, with Heart Attack following three years later on Paper Bag Records.
