Worm Is Green crafts an experimental style by weaving together understated electronic rhythms and sleek trip-hop elements. The group’s sole female member, vocalist Gudrídur Ringsted, comes from the Icelandic town of Arkranes and performs alongside Árni Teitur Ásgeirsson on programming and synthesizer, Bjarni Por Hannesson handling samples, Porsteinn Hannesson on drums, and Vilberg Hafsteinn Jónsson on bass. This distinctive lineup first assembled in 2002. Listeners across Europe quickly embraced the ensemble’s swirling hypnotic dream pop once the debut album Automagic appeared on Thule in 2003, with a U.S. edition following on Arena Rock in May 2004.
