Yamaneko's productions frequently connect him to London's grime community, where he constructs expansive, occasionally rhythm-free soundscapes shaped most strongly by new age aesthetics, ambient traditions, and the scores of Japanese video games. Alongside peers including Mumdance and Logos, he ranks among the central architects of the "weightless" subgenre. His well-regarded output for the respected Local Action label encompasses the 2014 album Pixel Wave Embrace, while he has also delivered a series of inventive DJ mixes.

Initially recognized for the stark and somber ambient work he issued as Talbot Fade, the producer first employed the Yamaneko alias on 2014's Pixel Juice Mix, which fused vintage RPG soundtracks with his own compositions and selections from other grime and club producers. Pixel Healing Spa followed, offering a far more restrained and contemplative mixing approach. Late that same year Local Action released Pixel Wave Embrace, Yamaneko's debut collection of original material, whose thirteen largely instrumental grime pieces shifted emphasis toward delicate, bubble-like textures instead of prominent bass.

After several further DJ mixes, he partnered with Gobstopper Records founder Mr. Mitch under the Yaroze Dream Suite moniker, resulting in a self-titled EP in 2016. Project Nautilus [Keygen Loops], his second album, arrived soon afterward and guided his sound toward darker terrain. Spa Commissions, a group of tranquil ambient compositions created for assorted European spas, appeared in 2017. The 2018 EP Afterglow presented some of Yamaneko's most otherworldly material to date, and Local Action issued the full-length Spirals Heaven Wide in 2019.
