London-based musician yeule, also known as Nat Ćmiel, produces dreamy experimental pop shaped by years of deep engagement with digital environments. Glitchy textures, static bursts, and bitcrushed processing frequently surface in the tracks, which also incorporate atmospheric guitars, close-miked vocals, and sporadic dance rhythms. The first full-length, Serotonin II, surfaced in 2019 and slowly built an audience, while the follow-up Glitch Princess landed in 2022. A third album leaning harder into guitars, softscars, came out in 2023.

Born Natasha Yelin Chang in Singapore in 1997, Ćmiel began classical piano lessons at age six. Guitar and drums entered the picture later, and during high school the artist performed in the indie rock band Riot Diet while also singing with a jazz ensemble. Frequent childhood moves made fitting in at school difficult and fostered ongoing isolation. Video games and internet communities offered both creative fuel and comfort, and once Ćmiel started releasing and performing solo work the chosen name yeule referenced a Final Fantasy character as well as a middle name from birth. Early influences included indie electronic acts such as Grimes, Holy Other, and Purity Ring; the self-titled debut EP arrived in 2014, followed by Pathos in 2016 and Coma in 2017. Additional music was composed for the game Lost Memories Dot Net, which drew on 2000s group-chat culture.

yeule joined Bayonet Records in 2019 and issued the dreamy ambient pop album Serotonin II that same year. A handful of further tracks emerged in 2020, among them the glitchy spoken-word piece “My Name Is Nat Ćmiel,” which closed out December 31. The remix EP Serotonin X appeared in 2021, succeeded by the digital album Nuclear War Post X featuring covers of material by the Breeders, Frank Ocean, the Velvet Underground, Grouper, and others. A nearly five-hour drone work titled “The Things They Did for Me Out of Love” was also released, alongside the emo-tinged single “Don’t Be So Hard on Your Own Beauty.” Early 2022 brought the dancehall-influenced single “Too Dead Inside,” produced by Danny L. Harle, just before the February arrival of the second full-length Glitch Princess. Its songs explore emotional overflow and a wish to exit the body. The third album, softscars, drew more from shoegaze and punk and surfaced on Ninja Tune in 2023.
