Biography
Young Legionnaire originated in 2009 when Yourcodenameis:Milo and the Automatic member Paul Mullen joined forces with Bloc Party bassist Gordon Moakes. The collaboration stemmed from an earlier one-off recording session Mullen had organized, during which he and Moakes connected. With both musicians’ primary bands on winter hiatus, they launched the new outfit and brought in La Roux’s touring drummer Will Bowerman on percussion. The following summer they issued their debut single, Colossus/Iron Dream, as a limited vinyl pressing on Holy Roar Records. After Bowerman returned to touring duties with La Roux, the group replaced him with drummer Dan Pearson and entered the studio to begin work on a full-length debut. Teaming once more with Automatic producer Richard Jackson, they cut the driving Crisis Works, issued in 2011 on Wichita Records.
