Hong Kong-based Cantopop sister act 2R first captured widespread attention in the mid-2000s. Race Wong, born September 7, 1982, and Rosanne Wong, born June 30, 1979, both entered the world in Malaysia and spent their childhood years in Singapore. After an agent discovered the pair at a singing competition, they relocated to Hong Kong to pursue careers in entertainment. Universal Music issued their debut full-length album, Two of Us, in 2003. The follow-up releases United in 2004 and Revolution in 2005 achieved stronger commercial results, supported in part by the sisters’ emerging work as actresses. Their appearances in the 2004 film Ab-Normal Beauty drew particular notice and earned Race a Best Newcomer nomination at the 2004 Hong Kong Film Awards.
