Biography
Emerging in the wake of post-grunge acts like the Deftones, P.O.D., and Incubus during the new millennium, the alternative metal quartet 3rd Root formed in San Diego. Refining its hardcore punk thrash approach since 1996, the group underwent multiple personnel changes and artistic shifts before settling on frontman Chili Fields, bassist Chris Bumgardener, guitarist Andres Torres, and drummer Danny Barragan. Select performances alongside fellow hard rockers Dogwood, Noise Ratchet, Coal Chamber, and Living Sacrifice followed. The Spirit of Life EP appeared in mid-2000, and the full-length studio effort A Sign of Things to Come arrived later that same year.
