Biography
Age Coin emerged as a Danish experimental techno and industrial duo built around Kristian Emdal and Simon Formann, each previously active in the heavy post-punk outfit Lower. Their Age Coin output characteristically drapes unsettling noises across frigid, pulsating rhythms, allowing individual pieces to stretch across full sides of cassettes or LPs. Tape releases commenced in 2011 with Measure, issued by Posh Isolation, a Copenhagen imprint long recognized as one of the city’s most active and respected underground outlets. The 2012 cassette Perceptions later received a vinyl edition from Luke Younger’s Alter label in 2013. After issuing two volumes of Hard Knit in 2014, the project paused while Formann issued solo work under the name Yen Towers and Emdal joined Olymphia and Marching Church. Early 2017 brought the duo back with Performance, widely viewed as their most streamlined recording to date.
