Allie Crow Buckley, a singer and songwriter based on the West Coast, weaves together sounds drawn from 1970s Laurel Canyon, dream pop, and classic metal to shape her atmospheric, entrancing adult alternative material. She also draws major creative fuel from poets such as Robert Graves and William Blake. After her debut EP, So Romantic, earned strong notice in 2019, she issued her first full-length effort, Moonlit and Devious, in 2021.

Although born in San Francisco, Buckley spent her childhood first in Venice, California, then in New Zealand before her family returned to California when she turned 13. Following high-school graduation in Malibu, she lived in New York for three years and eventually made Los Angeles her home to focus on music. Late 2018 found her touring with Van William, and February 2019 brought the release of her initial EP, So Romantic. Jason Boesel of Rilo Kiley and Mike Viola of Candy Butchers joined her as co-producers, expanding the arrangements on the project.

The EP opened doors to opening slots with Jenny Lewis and Maggie Rogers, after which Buckley reunited with Boesel and Viola to record her debut album. Those sessions occurred at 64 Sound in Los Angeles, and Moonlit and Devious appeared as a self-released title in March 2021. Sharon Van Etten figured among the contributors, co-writing the track “Gold Medallion.”
