Biography
Luke Strobel, a German rapper and producer, fronts the Alligatoah project. Early on he drew inspiration from the battle-rap approach associated with the Aggro Berlin collective and therefore created two separate personas under the Alligatoah banner: Kaliba 69 as rapper and lyricist together with DJ Deagle as producer. Still attending high school, the driven Strobel issued his first album, ATTNTAAT, in 2006 and followed it with the two mixtapes Sleeping Pills, Red Wine Pts. 1 and 2. He delivered his second album, In the Name of God, in 2008, then completed his schooling and moved to Berlin. With that relocation he could focus entirely on music, throwing himself into the city’s scene by dropping two additional mixtapes and joining the hip-hop collective Trailerpark, whose album Crack Street Boys 2 appeared in 2012. In 2013 Strobel returned to the Alligatoah name for his third album, Engines, which came packaged with the extra acoustic bonus album Power Failure. Engines stood as his greatest commercial achievement, climbing to number one on the German charts.
