Biography
Born in Birmingham, England, singer-songwriter Amy Pearson secured her breakthrough and a major-label contract far from home in Australia. From early childhood she nurtured a passion for music, taking part in numerous talent contests and stage performances throughout her teenage years. A pivotal introduction came in 2003 when she crossed paths with songwriter and former Take That member Gary Barlow, whose enthusiasm for her material prompted him to link her with influential figures in the worldwide music sector, among them Sony/BMG in Australia. At seventeen she departed England’s Midlands for the onetime British colony, finalizing a recording agreement with the same Sony imprint. Her debut album, Who I Am, appeared in 2008 and included the hit single “Don’t Miss You.”
