Formed in 1989 by students enrolled at the Communication and Arts school of the State University of São Paulo (ECA/USP), Aquilo Del Nisso originated as an instrumental ensemble free of stylistic constraints. The musicians explored works by Astor Piazzola and Guerra Peixe alongside MPB and jazz selections, testing numerous directions without settling on one. Selected for the Free Jazz Festival that same year, the ensemble earned positive responses that prompted the issuance of its debut recording, Aquilo Del Nisso, in 1990. Their third project, Chico Buarque Instrumental, appeared in 1994 and secured a nomination for the 1995 Sharp prize in the Best Instrumental Group division. Another nomination in the identical category arrived in 1998, tied to the 1997 album Festa Brasileira. In addition to independent concerts, Aquilo Del Nisso has collaborated in performances and sessions with Dominguinhos, Hermeto Pascoal, Chico César, Carlos Malta, Carlos Fernando, Virgínia Rosa, Duofel, Suzana Salles, and additional artists.
