Originating from Louisville, Kentucky, Artifex Pereo assembled as a six-piece experimental rock unit in 2009. The group fuses post-hardcore, math rock, and melodic alt-rock components into a progressive and emotive style often likened to Circa Survive and Glassjaw. Their understated Christian ties later secured a partnership with Tooth & Nail Records. Jamie Davis on guitar and vocals, Jordan Haynes on guitar, Jeremiah Brinkworth on keys, Eugene Barker on bass, Corey Eaves on drums, and Evan Redmon handling vocals handled every aspect of production, engineering, and release for their debut EP, I Am Invisible, which surfaced in summer 2009. Following an extensive tour behind that recording, the band headed to Portland, Oregon to record their first full-length album, Ailments & Antidotes, issued in 2011 with Kris Crummett of Sleeping with Sirens and Dance Gavin Dance at the helm. Soon after the album appeared, founding vocalist Evan Redmon departed and Lucas Worley stepped in; the lineup kept touring while developing fresh material. Signing with the leading alternative Christian imprint Tooth & Nail in 2014 broadened their reach considerably, resulting in the June release of their sophomore LP, Time in Place.
