Biography
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, gospel singer Beau Williams built a lengthy recording career that yielded multiple albums as well as numerous background vocal contributions. Raised in a household centered on both faith and music—his father serving as pastor, his mother leading the choir, and his seven siblings all singing in the choir—Williams first recognized his own abilities when he won a talent competition at the age of ten.
Seeking a larger stage, he moved to Los Angeles, where George Benson discovered him and secured a contract with Capitol. Soon after issuing his debut album he appeared on Star Search, where he defeated a long-reigning champion. Once his third Capitol project was complete, Williams joined Light Records and recommitted himself to gospel music. In 1995 The Best of Beau Williams collected ten highlights from that portion of his work.
