Biography
Crafting soulful folk blended with rock carrying R&B inflections, Beverly McClellan works as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. On the 2011 season of NBC's The Voice she competed as a contestant, receiving coaching from judge Christina Aguilera before placing third overall. Born in Florida, she took up piano study in childhood yet waited until her early twenties to begin singing and performing throughout the Fort Lauderdale area. Prior to her appearance on The Voice she had already issued several independent albums. McClellan frequently draws from her Native American heritage and her identity as an openly gay artist to shape songs rooted in honest self-expression and love. In 2011 she issued her first post-The Voice album, Fear Nothing. The following year guitarist Steve Vai included her on his album The Story of Light, and she joined him as a touring supporter.
