Big Ice

Big Ice stands out as perhaps Scandinavia’s sole rap producer. Hailing from West Oslo, Norway, he first entered the field in 1995 by contributing articles to the Bay Area’s prominent rap outlets “4080” and “Illtip.” In the closing years of the 1990s he began appearing on tracks by regional rap acts, and in 2000 he established the Norwegian/West Coast imprint Da Playboy Foundation alongside fellow Norwegian gangster rappers and producers Mr. Pimp-Lotion and Oral Bee. The label’s inaugural release arrived in 2002 with Oral Bee’s Sånn Vi Putter Det Ned, recognized as the first Norwegian gangster rap album. Beyond those efforts, Big Ice has also produced Assassin’s Revelation 2000 and Out of Custody 2002, Baby Beesh’s On tha Cool, Carlito’s Way’s Desperate Measures, Jay Tee & Baby Beesh’s Velvetism, Mr. Sosa’s Uncaged, Young Life’s Thugg Muzikk, and multiple compilations.
