Biography
Formed in 2012 by ex-Houwitser guitarist Ramon Ploeg, Bleeding Gods arose as a Dutch symphonic black metal outfit distinguished by its fusion of punishing riffage with classical flourishes. Ploeg, whose thematic sources encompassed ancient gods alongside Mayan, Egyptian, and Greek history, put out a four-track promo in 2013 that earned the band a recording contract with Italian thrash label Punishment 18. The resulting five-piece, completed by vocalist Mark Huisman, guitarist Rutger van Noordenburg, bassist Gea Mulder, and drummer Daan Klemann, delivered its first full-length album, Shepherd of Souls, in 2014. The group then shifted to Nuclear Blast for the 2018 follow-up Dodekathlon.
