Biography
Bleeding Knees Club channels the boisterous, impish spirit of garage punk into themes of skateboarding, rough-and-tumble antics, and indoor athletics, a focus their name itself evokes. The Gold Coast region of Queensland, Australia, saw the group coalesce in 2010 around singer/drummer Alex Wall and guitarist Jordan Malane. The ensuing summer found the pair appearing at British festivals the Great Escape and Liverpool Sound City, securing support tours with the Vines, Wavves, and Lightspeed Champion, and adding Matt Woods as permanent drummer. Their first recording, the Virginity EP, surfaced that autumn just as NME placed the band on its 50 Best New Bands of 2011 list. During lulls in a packed touring calendar, the Club headed to New York, where Dev Hynes of Lightspeed Champion contributed production to the full-length album Nothing to Do, which reached listeners in spring 2012.
