Biography
Lichelle Laws came into the world as Boss, a female gangster rapper who joined forces with her partner Dee to secure the first female rap deal on Russell Simmons’ Def Jam West imprint. The pair originated in Detroit, yet a short stay in New York preceded their move to Los Angeles. In L.A. they spent nearly three years living in near poverty before DJ Quik discovered them, leading to a recording contract and the 1993 release of Born Gangstaz. Laws passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 54.
