Biography
Born in New Orleans, Mia X earned the distinction of being the inaugural female rapper signed to Master P's No Limit imprint. Her initial forays into rhyming occurred in Queens alongside the old-school collective New York Incorporated, which performed at several block parties before disbanding following a four-year run. Returning to the South, she linked up with local icon Master P and his expanding No Limit Records operation. Priority Records facilitated the 1995 release of Good Girl Gone Bad under the No Limit banner, while her follow-up effort Unlady Like, issued eighteen months afterward, reached the Top 20 on the album charts.
