With a piercing yet lucid vocal timbre, Bre Kennedy fuses sincere, heartfelt pop melodies alongside the robust compositional techniques found in country traditions. Blending the ethereal qualities reminiscent of Taylor Swift alongside the fashionable energy of Maren Morris, Kennedy further exhibited a fondness for classic rock visual and sonic styles, at times evoking the enigmatic qualities associated with Stevie Nicks. Her debut EP from 2019, titled Jealous of Birds, incorporated these aspects fully, allowing her to refine her abilities across multiple follow-up albums culminating with Scream Over Everything during 2023. Growing up amid relatives who valued musical expression—particularly her father's blues-rock performances—Kennedy encountered classic pop, rock, and soul recordings throughout her early years. She picked up the guitar upon reaching age 12 and developed her songwriting abilities independently while still a teenager. Her initial foray into the music industry occurred in Los Angeles, where she composed tracks for various pop performers, before she moved to Nashville during 2015. Eventually establishing herself within the business, Kennedy began issuing her personal recordings, commencing with the Jealous of Birds EP in 2019. The follow-up EP, Twenty Something, came out in 2020. Her debut full-length album, Note to Self, appeared in October 2021 and generated sufficient interest to obtain a deal with Nettwerk. The Clarity EP marked her initial output under the Nettwerk arrangement in 2022. She secured desirable opening slots for Gary Clark, Jr. and Sheryl Crow. Following her inaugural headline tour during 2023, Scream Over Everything emerged in November 2023.
