Biography
Molly Parden shapes intimate, atmospheric songs around the understated yet resonant experiences that define a life. Regional and national recognition has followed the Nashville singer-songwriter’s nuanced fusion of indie folk, pop, and melancholic Americana, most recently on her confident sophomore album Sacramented, issued in 2023.
Parden was born in Jonesboro, Georgia, where early exposure to church hymns and the simple melodies she coaxed from a handmade violin passed down by her great uncle shaped her musical foundation. She later moved to Atlanta and spent three years sharpening her songwriting and stage skills inside that city’s thriving eastside arts scene. Time Is Medicine, her debut album, arrived in 2011; two years afterward she settled in Nashville. Her voice, naturally suited to harmony singing, led to session work on more than fifty releases within a brief span, along with appearances in several bands. The EPs With Me in the Summer and Rosemary followed in 2016 and 2020, respectively, while additional singles included joint efforts with Sam Outlaw on “Wild Child” and Tony Anderson on “Secret Garden.” Sacramented, her second full-length, surfaced in 2023: a quietly expansive, reflective collection of sunset indie folk whose central tracks are “Cigarette,” “Algorithm,” and “I See Right Now.”
