Brooke Annibale shapes haunting, atmospheric songs with her dusky vocals, moving fluidly between the layered textures of indie rock and the stark emotional directness of folk singer-songwriter traditions. After issuing her first recording in 2010, she reached wider audiences through the 2015 release The Simple Fear and the 2018 album Hold to the Light, whose track “We’re Not Ready” appeared on Grey’s Anatomy. Better By Now followed in September 2022.

Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1987, Annibale took up guitar during adolescence and issued her initial album at age 17. Following high school she enrolled at Belmont University, completing a Music Business degree in 2009. Her official solo debut, Silence Worth Breaking, emerged in 2010 after sessions in Nashville with producer Paul Moak.

The follow-up, Words in Your Eyes, arrived in 2013. Two years later she issued The Simple Fear, produced by Justin March. That year also brought increased exposure through tours alongside Josh Ritter, Iron & Wine, and Rufus Wainwright, among others, plus an Independent Music Awards win for Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter. In 2018 Annibale released her fourth studio album, Hold to the Light, helmed by producer Sam Kassirer and again featuring the Grey’s Anatomy placement of “We’re Not Ready.” Better By Now surfaced in September 2022 as Annibale examined feelings of isolation and anxiety.
