Born Richard Shaw, Bushwick Bill once belonged to Houston's Geto Boys and generated attention with his 1992 album Little Big Man. That project offered raw and occasionally alarming accounts of the gun incident which left him blind in one eye, together with the typical misogyny, aggression-filled scenes, and exaggerated urban stories characteristic of the crew. In the closing years of the nineties he put out two additional records, Phantom of the Rapra in 1995 along with No Surrender...No Retreat in 1998. Early 2001 brought Universal Small Souljah, which was succeeded by Gutta Mixx in 2005. A Christian rap effort titled My Testimony of Redemption arrived four years after that.
