Willie D

William Dennis, performing under the name Willie D, launched his career alongside the Houston horror-rap crew the Geto Boys. His initial solo outing, Controversy, surfaced in 1989. After splitting from the Geto Boys in 1992, he carried over the same confrontational approach on the track "F--- Rodney King," included on his follow-up album I'm Goin out Lika Soldier. Ice Cube made an appearance on the title song of Play Witcha Mama, the 1994 project that came next. Though the Geto Boys' 1996 reunion album The Resurrection revived the ensemble, Willie D stayed silent until 2000, when he delivered Loved by Few, Hated by Many—a title that may have nodded to the lopsided criticism he faced from rap audiences. The provocative phrasing was swapped out for Relentless upon the 2001 reissue. Brushing aside broad dismissal of his skills, Willie D surfaced again in 2003 with Unbreakable.
