Biography
Originating from Toronto, this producer transitioned his sound across the spectrum from gritty underground dubstep into the most profound expressions of house music. Adopting the moniker Bwana, he launched his project in 2012 via the track "Baby Let Me Finish" on the Somethinksounds imprint, a potent dubstep number driven by a brief Ciara vocal snippet alongside a captivating refrain. The subsequent Over & Done EP followed on Infinite Machine, establishing his command over fusions of R&B with dubstep elements. That same year saw him join the roster of Mad Decent's Jeffree's subsidiary, where he issued the unexpectedly tranquil house cut "Can't You Just." Under the AUS banner came the deep house EP Flute Dreams in 2014, succeeded by the shadowy "Tengo" single the next year. A vinyl pressing of the Akira soundtrack reemerged in 2014, prompting the Berlin-residing artist to revisit the compositions and produce his own DJ interpretations. These were further refined in 2016 for the Capsule's Pride EP, put out through the Luckyme label.
