Armand Jakobsson, a house producer born in Sweden and now based in Barcelona, operates most prominently under the name DJ Seinfeld. His productions typically combine driving house rhythms, bright synth textures, introspective piano lines, and emotionally charged vocal fragments, while his earliest material carried a dense overlay of tape saturation. Certain releases also incorporate abrupt, fragmented breakbeats. Favorable reactions to his opening extended plays led to the arrival of his debut album, Time Spent Away from U, in 2017, which was followed by his installment in the DJ-Kicks series the next year. The more refined and understated sophomore album Mirrors surfaced in 2021, while the energetic single “Now U Do,” a collaboration with Confidence Man, appeared in 2023.

Jakobsson has issued additional house material as Rimbaudian and a jungle EP as Birds of Sweden. He originally launched DJ Seinfeld as a short-lived side project whose name originated from an extended viewing of the celebrated 1990s sitcom after a breakup. The alias developed its own momentum toward the close of 2016 with the release of the Season 1 EP on Lobster Theremin. Its meme-inspired artwork, tongue-in-cheek title, and track names such as “Feel de Bum Slap” prompted widespread skepticism about the artist’s legitimacy, resulting in frequent associations with Ross from Friends and the Winona Ryder-sampling DJ Boring within an ironic “lo-fi house” wave. The resulting publicity nevertheless advanced his trajectory, prompting further DJ Seinfeld 12"s on Natural Sciences, E-Beamz, and Endotherm during 2017 before Time Spent Away from U landed on Lobster Fury that November.

After the Sakura EP appeared on Deep Sea Frequency in 2018, Seinfeld’s edition of the long-running !K7 DJ-Kicks series followed in July. Several subsequent EPs on his own Young Ethics label introduced U.K. garage, electro, and Italo-house influences. These elements shaped Mirrors, released by Ninja Tune in 2021, with the reworked Mirrors (Remixed) featuring contributions from LSDXOXO and godmode arriving the following year. The bouncy single “Now U Do” with Confidence Man closed out 2023.
