Biography
Riccardo Paffetti, the Italian house producer operating as Black Loops, gravitates toward the restrained and introspective dimensions of dance music.
The Black Loops project began when Paffetti encountered Gabriele Micheli at a 2007 gathering. Their quick connection prompted discussion of joint music-making, though the two did not convene to record until 2011. After relocating together to Berlin, they initiated a run of EPs that opened with Right Now on Toy Tonics and continued at a rate of roughly two releases per year on imprints such as Gruuv and Neovinyl Recordings.
The partnership ended around 2017, after which Paffetti continued alone, issuing the For the Lovers EP on Pets Recordings that year, the 7Hills EP on Freerange in 2018, and Gwei Lo on Pets in 2019.
