Biography
The neo-classical metal prowess of guitar virtuosi Marty Friedman and Jason Becker found an outlet in Cacophony, where both also produced separate instrumental solo recordings during the interval between the band’s two albums, Speed Metal Symphony (1987) and Go Off! (1989). After those releases, Cacophony formally disbanded in 1990. Friedman entered Megadeth ahead of the sessions for its Rust In Peace album. Becker spent a brief stint in David Lee Roth’s band and appeared on A Little Ain’t Enough. In 1989 Becker was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). Once the illness curtailed his guitar technique, he relied on computer technology to continue composing.
