Ceechynaa channels raw drill testimonies that articulate her past as a sex worker, her upbringing as the daughter of immigrants, and additional perspectives from the margins. Although 2022's "Legal Baby" generated early attention as one of her initial releases, it was the 2024 single "Peggy" that elevated her profile, securing placement on the U.K. singles chart alongside Billboard's TikTok Top 50.

Chelsea Ode, who performs as Ceechynaa, was born in South London to Nigerian parents and now resides in Essex; she first entered a studio with friends at age 14 and began creating music from that point. At 15 she achieved viral attention through a speech on beauty standards in which she shed her wig and false eyelashes, rather than through any song. After working as a waitress, she used a separate alias to enter sex work once she reached adulthood. She later abandoned that occupation to pursue college studies, only to leave school and devote herself entirely to music.

Under the Ceechynaa name she issued the frank "Legal Baby" in 2022 and followed it with "Last Laugh" the next year. Her stark, explicit drill raps quickly attracted listeners, drawing open endorsements from Chloe Bailey and Lily Allen among others. British Vogue profiled her in early 2024, and while continuing to issue material independently she put out the sexually explicit "Peggy" later that year. The track stands as her biggest success to date, amassing tens of millions of streams, entering the U.K. chart at number 79, and reaching the Top Ten of Billboard's TikTok Top 50 in the United States.
