Chris Blue, an American vocalist steeped in gospel, soul, and R&B, already possessed extensive stage experience before capturing the season-12 title on NBC’s widely followed reality competition The Voice. Born in Glendale, Arizona and raised in Knoxville, Tennessee as the youngest of seven siblings, he began singing in church at age three. Ordained at 15, he served as worship leader at his Methodist congregation and joined his brothers and sisters to perform as the Blue Brothers, an act that earned its first televised slot on BET’s Bobby Jones Gospel Show. In March 2017 Blue auditioned for The Voice; his take on the Miracles’ “Tracks of My Tears” persuaded Alicia Keys to add him to her team. He advanced to the finale and defeated Blake Shelton’s finalist Lauren Duski to claim the victory. Later that May, Motown/Universal released The Complete Season 12 Collection, compiling every performance Blue delivered during the season.
