Biography
Chuck Redd, a vibraphonist, initiated his performances during 1980 and continued them on an international scale across the next twenty years alongside various jazz artists prior to issuing his debut recording under his own direction in 1999. In addition to vibraphone, Redd handled drumming duties and entered the professional realm at twenty-one years old by becoming part of the Charlie Byrd Trio in 1980. Over the ensuing period, he collaborated with an array of musicians such as Dizzy Gillespie, Mel Torme, Tommy Flanagan, and Ray Brown. The period spent with Torme between 1991 and 1996 paved the way for his initial leader album titled Stomp, Look & Listen, which appeared in 1997. Redd issued his follow-up effort All This and Heaven Too five years afterward in 2002, during an era when his performances included work with the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra, the Ken Peplowski Quartet, and the Loren Schoenberg Big Band.
