Biography
City of the Sun, a New York-based acoustic trio, bends genres by weaving together the members' shared affinity for indie rock, flamenco, and gypsy jazz. Guitarist John Pita assembled the group around 2010, bringing in fellow guitarist Avi Snow and percussionist Zach Para to complete the lineup. After sharpening their interplay through busking on New York City streets, the trio drew wider notice with a performance at the 2013 TED conference. The next year brought the release of their EP Live at the Factory. Another EP soon followed, prompting a signing with Chesky Records. Their first full-length album, To the Sun and All the Cities in Between, surfaced in 2016 and entered the Billboard Jazz Albums chart at number 12.
