Corey Stevens grew up in Illinois and first took hold of a guitar at age eleven. By fifteen he was already handling rhythm parts and crafting songs inside local bands. While attending college he concentrated on music coursework and ultimately received his degree. After completing his studies he relocated to Los Angeles, finally anchoring the ambitions he had carried since boyhood. Breaking through demanded relentless effort, yet his position instructing third graders eased the strain enough for him to sustain a band and launch his earliest recording sessions. The decade he devoted to teaching proved enriching and strengthened his resolve. Along the way Stevens met and married Linda, a voice and piano instructor, and the couple later welcomed a daughter who remains the center of her father’s world. An early resemblance noted to the late Stevie Ray Vaughan proved double-edged, pushing Stevens to develop a voice entirely his own. In 1995 producer and guitarist Edward Tree oversaw the release of his debut album. Originally issued by Eureka Records, Blue Drops of Rain finally delivered recognition after fourteen years of persistence. The album’s reception drew the interest of Discovery Records, which licensed the project and backed a second recording. Chart activity arrived in 1996, carrying into 1997 with the appearance of Road to Zen, again produced by Tree. A tireless performer who continues to tour solo and share stages with Lynyrd Skynyrd, Corey Stevens has earned recognition for his integrity and clarity of vision, releasing Getaway in early 2000.
