Biography
A family outfit from Florida known as Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose enjoyed fleeting mainstream success in 1972 via their debut album on United Artists. Two singles, “Too Late to Turn Back Now” and “Treat Her Like a Lady,” reached the pop charts, while the self-titled LP climbed to number 29 on the album tally. Mainstream listeners embraced the material more readily than R&B audiences, who considered the vocal blends, production choices, and overall approach insufficiently raw or driving. A subsequent single, “Don’t Ever Be Lonely (A Poor Little Fool Like Me),” registered only modest airplay. Nevertheless, the earlier pair of tracks remains among the most frequently played early-seventies selections on oldies formats.
