Biography
Emerging from Memphis as a soulful vocal trio, the ensemble coalesced in 1970 and cut sides for We Produce, an offshoot of the Stax label. Its members—Harold "Scotty" Scott, Jasper "Jabbo" Phillips, and William Norvell Johnson—propelled a lavishly arranged cover of the frequently interpreted Five Royales/Shirelles classic “Dedicated to the One I Love” onto R&B playlists during 1972. When the follow-up “Love’s Maze” stirred modest interest, the threesome shifted to Epic and registered their last chart entry in 1976 with the plainly titled “I Found Love on a Disco Floor.”
