Biography
Emerging in 2019 as a fresh voice in Afro-pop, Nigerian singer and songwriter Crayon affiliated with Don Jazzy's prominent Mavin Records, the label that promptly released his introductory EP Cray Cray. Further traction arrived through popular cuts such as "So Fine" and the 2020 Kelvyn Boy collaboration "Tele."
Raised in Iba, Lagos, Crayon absorbed influences from both sides of the Atlantic, citing Canadians Drake and Justin Bieber while tracing Afrobeat lineage through the great Fela Kuti and present-day artists like Davido and Wizkid. His chosen name, Crayon, evokes the vivid spectrum of styles he blends, encompassing pop, Latino, Caribbean, and regional Afro-oriented sounds. Also in 2019 he joined the Mavin imprint Blowtime Entertainment, where the single "So Fine" quickly gained ground and led into a steady stream of 2020 releases including "Kpano," "Shima," and "No Ansa." His opening 2021 track arrived as the Bella Shmurda collaboration "Jackpot."
