Daniël Lohues, a Dutch singer, songwriter, and guitarist born on February 16, 1971, in Emmen, Netherlands, and residing in the village of Erica, launched his solo career in 2006 via the Allennig series of albums after serving as frontman for both Skik and Lohues & the Louisiana Blues Club. His earliest musical efforts date to the late '80s in a group known as the Charlies, after which he joined the pop ensemble Skik alongside Marco Geerdink on guitar, Maarten van der Helm on bass, and Marlen Davers on drums, with Lohues handling vocals and guitar. That band issued its self-titled debut album in 1995 and continued releasing further albums through the late '90s and early 2000s. Concurrently, Lohues assembled the blues outfit Lohues & the Louisiana Blues Club, which included Keith Keyes on bass, Gralin Neal on drums, and Rob van Donselaar on keyboards, plus fellow Skik member Geerdink on guitar alongside Lohues on vocals and guitar. The group delivered its first full-length effort, Ja Boeh, in 2003, then followed with Grip in 2005. Lohues subsequently debuted as a solo artist with Allennig in 2006 on Grey Town Recordings. Its sequel, Allennig II, appeared in 2008, climbed into the Dutch albums chart's Top 20, and yielded the Top Ten single “Baat Bij Muziek.” Allennig III, released the next year, likewise reached the Top 20, while Allennig IV in 2010 achieved the series' strongest showing by entering the Top Five. In addition, Lohues notched a Top 40 single with “Sneeuwen,” a Grey Town Recordings collaboration alongside Herman Finkers.
