Daniel Viglietti, the Uruguayan singer, composer, and skilled guitarist, absorbed profound inspiration from his parents during childhood, namely guitarist Cédar Viglietti and pianist Lyda Indart. His earliest meaningful musical step came through forming the duo Los Serranos, after which he joined the guitar ensemble Lavalleja. In the 1960s he enrolled at the Uruguayan National Music Conservatory and established himself as a guitar soloist. Acknowledged for his socially conscious songwriting, the artist entered exile in the 1970s amid Uruguay’s contentious political situation. Over the course of his career he performed with Los Olimareños, José Carbajal, and Alfredo Zitarrosa; with Mario Benedetti he conceived the production A Dos Voces, which toured globally and was captured live in Buenos Aires in 1993.
