Darling West

Hailing from Norway’s expanding Americana landscape, the Oslo threesome Darling West crafts a folk style marked by lush vocal harmonies and tinged with bluegrass and old-time influences. Mari Sandvær Kreken, Tor Egil Kreken, and Kjetil Steensnæs first surfaced as Darling West in 2014 on the album Winter Passing, whose vocal richness and string-band foundations earned the group a Spellemannprisen nomination, Norway’s equivalent of the Grammy Awards. They returned in 2016 with the well-regarded sophomore release Vinyl and a Heartache, this time taking home the Spellemannprisen.
