Biography
In 1978, the same year they took the top prize at Humo's Rock Rally Contest, De Kreuners assembled as one of Flemish rock's most persistently favored groups, with lead vocalist Walter Grootaers, guitarists Jan Van Eyken and Eric Wauters, bassist Berre Bergen (later succeeded by Axl Peleman), and drummer Ben Crabbe. A 1981 contract with Warner Bros led to the release of their debut studio album, Nachts Kouder Dan Buiten, though their greatest commercial peak arrived in 1990 through Hier en Nu and the million-selling single "Ik Wil Je." Two farewell concerts in Belgium marked the end of the band's activities in 2012.
