Formed in 2012, industrial metal outfit Device arose through the partnership of Disturbed frontman David Draiman and former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo. Their approach revives the electronic and rock fusion that took shape during the 1980s and 1990s, combining massive, ferocious guitars with throbbing synthesizers and driving rhythms in a style that recalls Nine Inch Nails and Die Krupps. Electronic and dance textures appear throughout the music, yet the group never loses sight of its essential identity as a rock band. The self-titled debut album arrived in 2013 and included guest contributions from Tom Morello, Serj Tankian, and Geezer Butler.
