Director

The Irish pop/rock ensemble Director crafts an elegant sound that fuses the chic urgency associated with the Strokes and the Killers alongside the sincere, grown-up melodic style of Coldplay and its many imitators. The band formed in Dublin in 2004, with Canadian-born singer and rhythm guitarist Michael Moloney joined by lead guitarist Eoin Aherne, bassist Rowan Averill, and drummer Shea Lawlor. Atlantic Records signed Director in 2005, and the group delivered its debut single, "Reconnect," the following April. That song and the two that followed, "Come with a Friend" and "Leave It to Me," each reached the Irish charts and appeared on the band’s first album, We Thrive on Big Cities. The record arrived in Ireland during fall 2006 and reached the United Kingdom and the United States in early 2007.
